Who wins artiste of the year at the 2024 TGMA

 


The Telecel Ghana Music Awards are heating up as Ghanaians eagerly await to see who will be crowned Artiste of the Year this Saturday, June 1, 2024. This prestigious title is awarded to the artist who has garnered the highest audience appeal and popularity over the past year. To be eligible, the artist must have released a hit single, EP, or album and have the most nominations for the year.


This year's nominees are Black Sherif, King Promise, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy. Based on the criteria for the Artiste of the Year, the competition seems to narrow down to King Promise and Stonebwoy.


*Stonebwoy* has had an impressive year with multiple high-profile collaborations and numerous performances. His notable features include:

*King Promise* has also had a phenomenal year, particularly with his hit song "Terminator," which dominated various charts and streaming platforms. The song achieved the following:

- Number one on Boomplay Africa for eight weeks

- Trending in Indonesia (number one for six weeks)

- 27.4 million streams on Spotify

- 16 million streams on Apple Music

- 46.1 million streams on Boomplay

- 30.6 million streams on Audiomack

- Numerous features, including Young Jonn, which added millions more streams


"Terminator" also achieved significant chart success, peaking at:

King Promise's monthly listeners on Spotify peaked at 3.5 million, the highest for any Ghanaian artist in 2023. He also won the Best Male West Africa award at the Afrimmas. His other notable songs, "Perfect Combi" and "Naana," have also gathered significant streams.
